About us

The sports group was founded in 1963 at what was then the Karlsruhe Nuclear Research Center in order to offer the center's employees a range of popular sports activities. Diving and tennis were among the first departments. The offer was expanded, met with lively interest and the number of members increased continuously.

The sports group has undergone many changes. However, one thing has always remained the same: the shared sport and fun with colleagues from KIT, their families and the citizens of Eggenstein-Leopoldshafen. As a KIT sports group, we would like to continue to make a contribution to social life at this research institution and in the community.

The sports group is also a founding member of ASCERI, the association of many European sports groups at research institutions. Time and again, members of the sports group have successfully taken part in winter and summer atomiades organized by ASCERI. Some of these events have even been organized by the sports group itself.
