Contribution rules

The membership fee regulations govern the collection of membership fees and charges in accordance with the statutes of the Sportgruppe am Karlsruher Institut für Technologie e.V. (referred to as SG KIT). Membership begins on the 1st of the month in which the declaration of membership is received by the sports office or the board of the respective department. The amount of the membership fees is determined in accordance with § 6 of the statutes in the department meeting of the individual departments.

The form of membership and the amount of membership fees per calendar year for the individual sections are shown below:

Information on fee collection

1. The membership status existing on the due date is decisive for the fee amount. The reference date for all membership types and ages is January 1 of the current calendar year.
2. Honorary members are free of charge.
3. Married couples/registered partnerships and their children who have not yet reached the age of 18 and live in the same household are considered to be family members.
4. Married couples/registered partnerships are persons who are married or living in a marriage-like relationship in a joint household.
5. Apprentices, pupils, students, conscripts, persons performing civilian service are members with no or little income of their own who have not yet reached the age of 27. The relevant proof must be submitted at the beginning of the year without being asked.
6. Separate fees may be charged for additional sports activities, which must be specified in detail.
7. With the exception of the diving department, no admission fee is charged.
   *For the diving department, the one-off admission fee for diving training by SG KIT is offset against the membership fee.
8. The membership fee includes the contributions for the sports insurance (insurance tax) of the Badischer Sportbund Nord e.V. (BSB).
   Departments can raise separate department fees to cover additional expenses by resolution of the department meeting. Members must be informed of this when they join the department.
9. Contributions, fees and levies are collected by means of data processing (EDP). Members' personal data is processed in accordance with the provisions of the Federal Data Protection Act.
10. Members are obliged to inform the sports office immediately of any changes of address or bank account.
    Withdrawal from the association is regulated in § 8 of the statutes.

Notes on payment and dunning

1. Membership fees, charges and levies are collected by SEPA Core Direct Debit Scheme for recurring payments without invoicing. The membership fee is collected annually, stating the creditor ID DE53ZZZ00000135688 and the mandate reference. The membership fee is due in advance at the beginning of the year.
   The payment dates are 01.03. for annual payment, 01.01. and 01.07. for semi-annual payment and 01.01., 01.04., 01.07., 01.10. for quarterly payment. If the 1st of the month does not fall on a bank working day, the amount will be collected on the immediately following bank working day.
2. Upon joining the association, the member must undertake to issue a SEPA direct debit mandate and to ensure that the account used has sufficient funds. Any expenses incurred by the association due to late payment of membership fees, insufficient funds in the account or incorrect account details etc. shall be borne by the member.
3. If a member is in arrears with the payment of membership fees and charges, a reminder will be sent. The reminder fee for each reminder sent is € 5.
4. The membership fee plus the processing fee for returned direct debits and the reminder fees will be collected again on the 1st of the following month by SEPA core direct debit.
