Our club is a member of Sportkreis Karlsruhe e.V., which in turn is a member of Badischer Sportbund Nord e.V.. At the sports district conference, which takes place every three years, the honorary members of the board are discharged for their work, new members are elected and, in particular, the finances are audited, as is customary in clubs.
This year, the Sportkreistag took place on May 8, 2025, a particularly historic date. In Berlin in particular, May 8 marks the liberation from National Socialism and the end of the Second World War. This year marks the 80th anniversary of this date. The new Pope of the Roman Catholic Church was also elected on May 8, 2025.
The fact that sport was not the only focus of the event was made clear by the opening words of BSB North Chairwoman Michael Titze and the report by 1st Chairman Andreas Ramin. After more than two hours of meetings, Karlsruhe's mayor Martin Lenz closed the Sportbundtag with a fiery speech. We, the sports clubs, are the foundation of democracy! Martin Lenz particularly praised the financial support for sports clubs in the new federal government's coalition agreement as well as the first appointment of a Minister of State for Sport and Volunteering in the Federal Chancellery, Christiane Schenderlein.
For the many delegates from the member clubs, the Sportbundtag was a lesson for sport between society and politics. A number of individual successes in the work of the Sportkreis were presented:
- Last year, the achievements of the Sportkreis were recognized with a major donation from Stadtwerke Karlsruhe. The donation of € 25,000 was accepted by the deputy chairman of the sports district Michael Dannenmaier in April last year.
- The Sports Badge Day 2025 organized by the Sportkreis will offer low-threshold opportunities for sports enthusiasts in Karlsruhe at the Karl Kaufmann Stadium on 3 October 2025. The promotion of the German Sports Badge is one of the purposes of the Sportkreis
purposes of the Sportkreis. - The Sportkreis supports and promotes clubs as part of projects with all-day schools.
- In the coming three-year term of office, a particular focus of the work will be on the topic of inclusion. Silvia Maile was elected as a new assessor on the Sportkreis board. She brings experience from her club in working with severely visually impaired athletes.
- The Sportkreis is eagerly awaiting the next steps in the realization of the World Games. The special sports games taking place in Chengdu this year will be awarded to Karlsruhe in 2029. The city council of the City Council is supporting the organization of the Games with a significant contribution in the double-digit million range. After the federal elections, the federal government is expected to pledge 55 million euros to cover total costs of over 120 million euros.
The sports district conference at TSV Weingarten's Geggus Sportpark will be remembered as a special event!
